History of the Bovenhaven
The club was founded on 1 May 1954 and has been inseparable from the town of Kampen ever since. These images show what the harbour and club life looked like over the years.

The harbour before the club
A postcard of the Bovenhaven from before the watersports club existed. The harbour on the IJssel was then mainly a working harbour.

Founding
Bovenhaven Watersports Club is founded, with its seat in Kampen, established for an indefinite period. That is still how article 1 of the articles of association reads today.
- The years that followed

Jetties and working duty
The harbour grows with wooden jetties, a shed and a workshop. Members keep costs down by lending a hand themselves — the working duty that still exists today.
- February 2015

Harbour rules adopted
The members’ meeting adopts the harbour rules that still apply today: sixteen articles on berths, slipway work, safety and good neighbourliness.
- June 2024

The club online
The club’s first website goes live, with information for members and visitors and the option to apply online.
- Today

Over 200 members
The harbour has over two hundred members, from active water sports enthusiasts to anglers, with spacious jetties for visiting boats and a welcoming clubhouse.
